SM Store Launches Shop&Share for Education: Empowering Filipino Children with Essential School Supplies

MANILA, Philippines. One of the high-priority issues in the Philippines’ education sector is the lack of access to basic school supplies. Based on the Learner Information System (LIS) of the Department of Education for the school year 2023-2024, there are over 22 million students enrolled in the public schools. However, according to a report by Save the Children Philippines, many Filipino students from remote areas do not even own a pencil. Recognizing this challenge, SM Store is steadfast in its commitment to provide underprivileged students with the essential supplies for a quality learning experience.
Last year, SM Store took a significant step in addressing this problem by launching the Shop&Share for Education campaign. In partnership with various non-government organizations, SM Store distributed notebook bundles to thousands of public-school students across the country. Following the resounding success of last year’s campaign, SM Store is excited to announce the launch of this year’s Shop&Share for Education campaign, in time for the new academic year. This initiative is a testament to SM Store’s dedication to empowering Filipino children by equipping them with the basic school supplies needed for their education.
The 2024 Shop&Share for Education campaign aims to distribute 12,000 back-to-school kits to grade school pupils in more than 70 public schools nationwide. Running from July 1 to July 31, 2024, this initiative invites shoppers to make a difference in the lives of Filipino children in need. For a minimum single-receipt purchase of P3,000 at any participating SM Store, shoppers are qualified to purchase a school kit for donation at only P100.
